In addition to entering Lilla Roger's Global Talent Search Contest, I also signed up to take the Make it in Design Summer School program. I have to say that it has done what I hoped it would do, and that is stretch me outside my comfort zone! I had never previously explored anything nautical or tribal, but it was really fun to play around with these and see what I could come up with.
For the first design brief I did a cute little crab holding a bouquet of kelp on a fish scale pattern background. I love how this one turned out and I feel like I did a good job of staying true with my design aesthetic.
The second brief was a tribal collage of geometrics, animal prints, etc. Unfortunately this one coincided with the GTS Contest, so I couldn't spend a lot of time on it. I had a bunch of leftover brush strokes from my terrarium sketches for the contest, so I re-purposed those into a tribal collage pattern. I don't feel like this pattern fits into my Vetmari brand, however I like the playfulness and organic nature of it.
I've really enjoyed stretching myself this summer and participating in a community of talented artists! To view all the Summer School galleries click here.
